Virgil Richins, who was born in Ogden, Utah, on December 26, 1928, passed away on February 22, 2014, at the age of 85. He was buried in the Ben Lomond Cemetery in North Ogden.
Raised in Grouse Creek, Richins helped on his family ranch before moving to Tremonton to attend and graduate from Bear River High School. Throughout his life, he resided in Pleasant View, Kaysville, Centerville, Colorado Springs, and Grouse Creek.
Richins was a salesman for Utah Concrete Pipe/Amcor for more than 40 years and worked for Logo Concepts for five years following his retirement. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where he served as a Bishop, in multiple Bishoprics, and in a Stake Presidency.
Richins was married twice, first to Sharon Hales in the Logan LDS Temple on August 12, 1948, and later to Donna Josephson in the Ogden LDS Temple on October 12, 1972. He was a father to several children from both marriages.
An avid hunter, Richins also enjoyed dancing, cowboy poetry, and old country western music. He was known for his dedication to helping neighbors, friends, and anyone in need.
