The Ferron City Council will hold a public hearing on Wednesday, September 23, 2026, to solicit community input regarding the potential sale or lease of the Millsite Golf Course. The hearing, scheduled to begin at 6:00 p.m., will be followed immediately by a regular council meeting at the Ferron City Hall Council Chambers.
Public Input on Golf Course
The scheduled public hearing is part of a broader meeting agenda that includes several municipal considerations. According to the Ferron City Council agenda, the session will begin with a call to order, roll call, a welcome, and the Pledge of Allegiance. Following the opening formalities, the council will open the floor to receive public comments specifically concerning the future of the Millsite Golf Course, whether through a sale or a lease agreement.
Administrative Agenda Items
In addition to the golf course discussion, the council's regular meeting will address a variety of administrative and legislative items. The consent agenda includes the discussion and potential approval or denial of minutes from the August 12, 2026, meeting. The council is also set to review rental property utility permissions for Johnathon Griggs, Britt Anderson, and Damon Sheranian.
Departmental and Youth Reports
The council will review several reports and specific requests during the general business portion of the meeting. Scheduled reports include updates from the Fire Department provided by Randy Kenney and a report from Emery County Recreation from Bralin Wilde. The Ferron City Youth Council is also slated to provide a report.
Community and Personnel Matters
Legislative and policy matters on the agenda include a request to ratify a pay raise for Ferron City Crossing Guard Keith Harvey. Additionally, the council will address a request from Sid and Sherry Swasey to speak regarding a commemorative plaque for the old barn, as well as questions concerning the New Event Center usage and the stock show.
Policy and Land Regulation
The council is also scheduled to discuss and vote on the Ferron City Procurement Policy 9.23.2026 and Resolution No. 2026-9.23, which seeks to amend the water share requirements for secondary water connections. The agenda also includes the discussion of subdividing lots within city limits, noting that under Ordinance 2025-1, which was enacted on January 8, 2025, transferring ownership of any parcel of land via an unapproved subdividing document is unlawful and may be voided by the City. Violators of this subdivision title may face criminal liability for a Class C misdemeanor.
Council Reports and Executive Session
The meeting will also feature reports from Mayor Trent Jackson and Council Members Vance Brown, Ray Petersen, Gerry Stotler, Kellee Singleton, and Mike Behling. Maintenance and golf course reports are expected from Kasey Edgehouse and Conner Kinross. The council may also enter a closed session to discuss matters permitted under Utah Code § 52-4-205, including legal strategy for pending or imminent litigation and the purchase, exchange, sale, or lease of real property, including water rights or water shares.
Meeting Logistics
The Ferron City Council meeting will take place at 20 E Main, Ferron, UT 84523. In compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act, individuals requiring special accommodations, including auxiliary communicative aids and services, are asked to notify City Recorder Barbara Bowles at (435) 384-2350 at least 24 hours prior to the meeting.
