A funeral held on Friday honored the memory of Pamela Atkinson, who was described as Utah’s champion for the homeless. The service was attended by a crowd that included Utah Governor Spencer Cox and various other prominent dignitaries.
During the service, Ed Snoddy spoke about the more than 30 years he spent working alongside Atkinson to assist Utah’s most vulnerable populations. Snoddy noted that he had many stories from their time working together.
Atkinson was known for her advocacy, which included inviting former Utah Governor Mike Leavitt to join the Volunteers of America’s outreach team to check in on people experiencing homelessness. Snoddy recounted a specific instance where they went to visit a homeless individual named Chuck.
The memorial for Atkinson took place in a church attended by a large group of people gathered to honor her life and legacy.
