West Point Junior High students are finding success and cultural understanding through the school's Spanish department, according to a September 14 report.
The Spanish department at West Point Junior High focuses on helping students understand and accept diverse cultures while educating them in grammar and storytelling. Teachers Mrs. Marquez-Lavine and Mr. Dawson utilize creative lesson planning and classroom instruction to help students understand language concepts.
Students who have taken Spanish classes report that being bilingual has allowed them to be more successful in their education. They also noted that the language courses help them learn more about culture and how to understand and accept the community as a whole.
