The National Bobblehead Hall of Fame and Museum has unveiled a new, officially licensed, limited-edition BYU Cougars Cosmo the Cougar Cosmobile bobblehead. The announcement follows BYU's victory over 2nd-ranked Notre Dame, a win that moved the Cougars to the No. 2 ranking in the AP Top 25 Rankings.
The new bobblehead features Cosmo the Cougar riding in his Cosmobile, a custom-equipped transport van adorned with BYU logos and blue stripes. The figure depicts the mascot wearing a blue No. 00 football jersey with his name on the back. Each of the limited-edition items will be individually numbered to only 2,026 and is expected to ship in April. The bobbleheads are priced at $40 each, plus an $8 flat-rate shipping charge per order.
Phil Sklar, the co-founder and CEO of the National Bobblehead Hall of Fame and Museum, stated that the unique bobblehead is a must-have for Cougar fans. Sklar noted that the Cosmobile has been a staple on the BYU campus for a quarter century. The museum, which is an official licensee of Brigham Young University, is located at 170 S. 1st St. in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
The Cosmobile serves as a mobile stage and billboard for BYU athletics, carrying Team Cosmo to between 450 and 500 annual public functions, including campus events, parades, and community outreach visits. The custom van includes a 1,600-watt, 12-speaker stereo system, a dance stage on top, a basketball hoop, specialty lights, a fog machine, several sirens, and a cordless public address system. Cosmo the Cougar first appeared before BYU fans on October 15th, 1953, when the mascot flew into LaVell Edwards Stadium on a parachute.
Following the victory over Notre Dame, the Cougars have moved to the #3 spot in the AFCA Coaches Poll. BYU remains one of six unbeaten teams in the College Football FBS. The team is scheduled to travel to Orlando to take on UCF at 1:30pm MDT.
