Weber State University has achieved a new record for student enrollment this fall, according to a press release published October 23, 2026. This milestone marks the fifth consecutive year that the university has set a new enrollment record.
The university reported a total headcount of 33,558 students for the fall term. According to the release, enrollment growth occurred across multiple student populations, including students returning to school after several years away, students transferring from other institutions, and students aged 25 or older.
Public Relations Director Rachel Badali stated that the university aims to meet students where they are in the modern era by focusing on flexibility, affordability, quality, and outcomes. Badali noted that the consistent enrollment records indicate an increasing number of students experiencing the benefits of higher education.
During the 2025-26 academic year, Weber State University awarded 8,288 degrees and certificates to 7,056 students. The credentials awarded included:
1,314 certificates
3,967 associate degrees
2,554 bachelor's degrees
419 master's degrees
34 doctorates
Badali identified nursing as one of the most popular degrees, noting its role in reinforcing the university's reputation as a top provider of health professionals in Utah. Additionally, the School of Computing programs, including computer science, were noted as being in high demand.
WSU President Chris Malatt, who assumed his role in August, said the university serves learners at all stages of life, from high school students to those returning to college after time in the workforce.
Badali added that Weber State works closely with local technical colleges to allow students to build upon previous accomplishments. She noted that higher education institutions across the state are working together to ensure Utahns have diverse educational options.
