Intermountain Health is initiating Primary Promise, a historic, multi-faceted investment in children's health supported by community contributions. The initiative represents an investment of upwards of $600 million intended to establish the Intermountain West as a leader in national pediatric care.
The Primary Promise initiative focuses on three vital objectives for pediatric health. These include strengthening capabilities in fetal and newborn care, cancer treatment, and research; addressing emerging mental and emotional health needs; and extending comprehensive care closer to home for families regardless of their location or ability to pay.
To achieve these goals, the plan includes several key service expansions. This involves supporting the Grant Scott Bonham Fetal Center with new technology and equipment, enhancing the Level 4 Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), and providing advanced treatments through the Sorenson Center for Cancer & Blood Disorders. Additionally, the project includes the development of a new 90,000-square-foot behavioral health facility and campus to address the youth mental health crisis.
Other components of the plan involve the creation of a second Primary Children’s Hospital campus in Lehi to serve the growing population of Utah County. The initiative also features the development of a new Autism and Neuro Development service line, the use of advanced technologies in the Primary Children’s Center for Personalized Medicine, and the Network of Care, which will make pediatric health teams available virtually at local hospitals.
The initiative also addresses long-term wellness through programs like Healthy Kids, which focuses on early screenings to reduce long-term health risks, and Teen-To-Adult Care Transitions, which prepares adolescents for managing their own medical needs. Ongoing research and preventative care efforts are supported through the Opportunities Today and Beyond component of the campaign.
