The overlook remains open, but small sections of the walkway and viewing area may be temporarily closed while seal coat cures. Please follow posted signs and staff directions, and stay out of coned-off areas for your safety and to protect the new surface.
Road Conditions
Current Status of Park Roads
State Route 148, through the Monument is open.
State Route 143 through the Monument is open.

Seasonal Road Closures (Projected)
The main road through the park, State Route 148, closes each year due to snowpack. While the duration of the closure is snow dependent, the road is closed to vehicles from mid-November to mid-May, on average.
The road running through the Northern end of the park, State Route 143, remains open almost year-round. Temporary closures may take place in the event of heavy snowstorms and strong winds. Temporary closures may last across multiple days and is lifted when the road is plowed during daylight hours.

Facilities
Public Buildings
The newly constructed Visitor Center, Zion Forever Park Store, and Human History Museum will reopen for the season on May 22, 2026.
The routine closure of these buildings takes place every year from mid-October to late-May.
Restrooms
The flush toilets at the Cedar Breaks Visitor Center are open for the season.
Vault toilets are located at the Point Supreme Picnic Area. Vault toilets will not be serviced during the routine seasonal closure, lasting from mid-October to late-May. Access to the Vault Toilets may be compromised by snowpack.
Campground
The Point Supreme Campground is now closed. This campground is open seasonally, weather-permitting, from June to mid-September.
Picnic Area
The Point Supreme Picnic Area is open. No reservations required. All tables and Pavillion spaces are first come, first served.
Overlooks
Current Status of Roadside Overlooks
All roadside overlooks, including Point Supreme Overlook, Sunset View Overlook, and Chessman Ridge Overlook are open to road-based vehicles.
Restricted Overlook Access During Winter Conditions
Point Supreme Overlook, Sunset View Overlook, and Chessman Ridge Overlook are inaccessible by road-based vehicle during the annual closure of State Route 148. While the duration of the closure is snow dependent, the road is usually closed to vehicles from mid-November to mid-May. These viewpoints can still be accessed by snowmobile, cross-country skis, and snowshoes during the closure.
During Winter months, North View Overlook may still be accessed by road-based vehicle via State Route 143, which may close temporarily during heightened winter conditions.
Hiking Trails
All trails within Cedar Breaks National Monument are currently open.
Visitors should expect muddy and uneven trail surfaces on open trails and recreate at their own risk. Appropriate footwear is strongly recommended.
Cedar Breaks is located at over 10,000 feet, where lightning storms are common and dangerous, especially in the afternoons. Always check the forecast and be prepared to turn back.
Fire Restrictions
Cedar Breaks National Monument implemented Stage 2 fire restrictions beginning Friday, June 26, 2026, at 12:01 a.m. due to increasing fire danger and dry conditions across southwest Utah.
The restrictions apply to all lands within Cedar Breaks National Monument and will remain in effect until rescinded by the Superintendent.
The following are prohibited:
Building, maintaining, attending or using a fire or campfire in all areas of the monument, including charcoal fires. Properly shielded gas or liquid-fueled portable camp stoves are allowed.
Smoking is prohibited, except within an enclosed vehicle.
Discharging or using fireworks or other pyrotechnic devices are always prohibited on all federal public land.
