The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is offering the general public the opportunity to tour the interior of its new Fort Worth Texas Temple in Burleson. These tours are available from Thursday through Nov. 21, excluding Sundays, prior to the temple's official dedication.
The temple is scheduled to be dedicated on Jan. 10, after which only members of the faith in good standing will be permitted inside. Church leaders stated that the goal of these tours is to allow visitors to ask questions and learn about the functions of the temple. Elder Jeremiah Morgan, a senior church leader based in Salt Lake City, noted that the purpose of these temples is to guide members back to their heavenly home.
The building features architecture inspired by Spanish colonial design, including dusky red accents, lattice work, and quatrefoil motifs. Interior elements include marble arches, plush carpets, and stained glass windows with botanic designs. The temple also contains a celestial room with gold-framed mirrors, olive green furniture, and a large crystal and brass chandelier. Additionally, the facility includes a baptistry where steps lead down into a pool situated atop statues of 12 oxen.
The Fort Worth Texas Temple was announced in 2021 and construction began in 2023. It is located at 1851 Greenridge Drive in Burleson. Currently, there is only one operating temple in the region, located in North Dallas, while another is under construction in Fairview. The church has reported that its membership in North Texas has quadrupled since the Dallas Texas Temple was dedicated in 1984, and about a quarter of the 400,000 members in Texas live in the Dallas-Fort Worth area.
Following the dedication, the church stated that the general public remains welcome to visit the temple's exterior gardens and pathways for meditation.
