The Road Home is working to help Utahns experiencing homelessness access shelter, housing, and supportive services to build pathways toward stability and permanent housing, according to a November 2 statement from the Salt Lake Chamber.
Community Building Officer Alicia Gleed stated that the mission of The Road Home involves helping people move from homelessness to a stable home. The organization addresses immediate needs such as food, basic necessities, safe shelter, and case management. Beyond immediate needs, teams work across six emergency shelters and various stable housing options to address barriers to housing and connect individuals to healthcare, employment, benefits, and other necessary support.
During the last fiscal year, The Road Home provided nearly 420,000 nights of emergency shelter and more than 642,000 nights of housing assistance. Gleed noted that the Utah business community supports these efforts through donations, resources, partnerships, jobs, and by believing in the possibility of collective work to ensure everyone has a place to call home.
The Road Home aims to create lasting change for individuals and families statewide by adapting to the changing needs of Utah.
