The Bureau of Land Management has announced a reward of up to $10,000 for information regarding the burning of a historic cabin in the San Rafael Swell Recreation Area. The incident occurred near Behind the Reef Road and involved a structure that was part of a documented historic uranium mining site.
The BLM became aware of the damage on May 16, 2025.

The incident is currently under investigation. According to the Bureau of Land Management, those responsible for the fire could face charges related to the destruction of government property, damaging historic objects on federal lands, and the destruction of historic property on public lands.
