Mount Mahogany Elementary has announced upcoming school activities, including a Halloween celebration and a Veterans Day assembly to honor military veterans.
A costume parade is scheduled for Friday, Oct. 30, beginning at 9:30 a.m. According to the school, parents will be seated outdoors behind the building. To accommodate sensitive students, costumes may not include weapons, blood, or gore, and face paint must also exclude blood or gore. Students are permitted to wear masks for the parade only.
The school, a recognized Purple Heart School, will hold a special Veterans Day assembly on Wednesday, Nov. 11, at 9:30 a.m. Military family members who cannot attend are encouraged to record and email a short message to be included in an assembly video.
Applications for Sub for Santa are currently open and are due by Nov. 6. Interested families must fill out a specific form and must not be receiving any other Christmas assistance. For questions, families can contact Parent Liaison Adawna Smith.
Other upcoming November dates for the school include a PTA meeting on Nov. 4, Penny Wars from Nov. 9-13, and a Book Fair from Nov. 16-20. The school will have no school on Nov. 2 for a teacher work day and from Nov. 25-27 for the Thanksgiving holiday.
