A male employee was hospitalized after being stabbed multiple times at a kiosk inside Valley Fair Mall on Monday afternoon, according to police. The suspect was arrested at the scene following the incident in West Valley City.
The stabbing occurred just before 3 p.m. Police stated that a male suspect approached the employee and, after a brief interaction, used a knife to stab the victim multiple times.
Bystanders intervened during the attack, separating the suspect from the victim and holding the individual until officers arrived at the mall.
The victim was transported to a hospital where he underwent surgery, though police did not release information regarding his condition.
The suspect remains in custody. Investigators are currently working to determine a possible motive and are looking into whether the suspect and the victim were known to each other.
