Left-hander Tanner Banks, a former Salt Lake Community College and University of Utah pitcher, is working to stabilize the Philadelphia Phillies bullpen. KSLTV reported that Banks has struggled through an opening stretch in 2026, posting a 6.23 ERA over 17.1 innings, though he has notably limited home runs allowed.
Paxton Schultz joins Nationals
Utah Valley University product Paxton Schultz has emerged as a reliable arm for the Washington Nationals. The Orem native has recorded a 2.30 ERA and one save through 15.2 innings this season, according to KSLTV. Schultz is one of only three players in Utah Valley history to reach the major leagues.
Justin Sterner with Athletics
Former BYU standout Justin Sterner is also contributing to the Oakland Athletics' bullpen. KSLTV noted that Sterner has provided quality innings, including a notable performance where he escaped a bases-loaded jam against the Texas Rangers.
