On July 9, 2026 Centra Com hosted a Free BBQ at the Henry Earley Park in Laketown. Betty Mills was chosen to receive the “Fiber” of our Community award.
Betty has always been a pillar of our community consistently demonstrating kindness, generosity, and selfless service. She has generously opened her home to friends whenever someone needed a place to stay. Her volunteer work has touched many lives, from helping the elderly to supporting expectant mothers.
Betty is known for making everyone feel welcome. She warmly greets new members of our community by delivering a plate of homemade cookies, she prepares homemade cinnamon rolls for all community members during the Christmas Holidays, and she is always among the first to offer help when a neighbor is facing a challenge.
Her dedication to our community activity committee has been extraordinary. Betty is always the first one to volunteer for any event, generously preparing homemade rolls and breadsticks for events, working the rodeo concession during Raspberry Days, helping raise the American flags along our roads for holidays, assisting with the annual Easter egg hunt and Christmas party, and leading the town clean-up efforts.
Betty's unwavering commitment to serving others has made a lasting impact on our community. Through her compassion, generosity, and willingness to step forward whenever help is needed, she has enriched the lives of so many. She leads by example, inspiring others through her quiet acts of service and making our community stronger, more caring place for everyone. She is a true Fiber of our community.
