Orem secured the Region 7 championship on October 13 with a 47-0 victory over Maple Mountain. The win, which was shortened by the UHSAA mercy rule, concluded Orem's regular season with a 7-2 record.
The victory on October 13 was driven by a strong offensive performance and a dominant defense. Quarterback Tanner Lewis threw four touchdown passes, including three in the first half. His scoring connections included an 8-yard pass to Makai Gordon and an 8-yard pass to Po Faumui. Additionally, Lewis threw an 8-yard pass to Todd Lewis. Beckham Curtis contributed two rushing touchdowns, one for three yards and another for eight yards. Adrian Sanchez successfully converted four field goals or extra points, including a 25-yard field goal in the second quarter.
Orem coach Andy Stokes, who is in his first year with the program, noted that his senior players served as stabilizing leaders during coaching transitions since March. The senior class includes Krew Jones, MJ Bateman, Will Rasmussen, Beckham Curtis, and Jag Ioane. Stokes stated that the seniors helped hold the team together and maintained high standards despite the distractions of college coaches attending games.
Following the game on October 13, Orem held a ceremony to recognize its senior players and their families. The team has previously won a state championship and enters the postseason with a high seed. Stokes credited the defense for leading the team throughout the season but noted the need for continued improvement on both sides of the ball.
Orem will move into the 5A state championship tournament, which is scheduled to begin a week from Friday.
