No. 10 Lehi will travel to No. 7 Lone Peak on Friday, Oct. 30, for a first-round Class 6A state playoff game, according to a report by the Lehi Free Press. The matchup serves as a rematch of a Region 3 game in which Lone Peak defeated Lehi 14-7 on Oct. 8.
The Oct. 8 meeting was a defensive contest where the Pioneers were ruled inches short of the line to gain in the final minutes before the Knights ran out the clock. During that game, senior quarterback Briggs Jensen completed 20 of 30 passes for 200 yards, while senior wide receiver Cam Wren recorded 10 receptions for 112 yards. The Lone Peak offense was held to 171 total yards by the Pioneer defense.
Lehi concluded its regular season on Oct. 14 with a 34-7 loss to Corner Canyon. In that game, senior linebacker Brody Downs and senior linebacker Colt Kelley each recorded 17 tackles, while senior linebacker Paul Unga recorded 13 tackles. Senior defensive lineman Tautai Meredith had 10 tackles and three hurries. Jensen connected with Wren on a seven-yard touchdown for Lehi's only score in that contest; Wren finished the game with nine receptions for 65 yards and 113 kick return yards.
The Pioneers finished the regular season in a three-way tie for third place in Region 3. Lehi head coach Andy Hadfield stated that the loss to Corner Canyon provided the team with a clear picture heading into the postseason and noted that the team would focus on addressing specific areas before preparing for the Lone Peak game plan.
A victory for Lehi on Oct. 30 would lead the Pioneers to a quarterfinal game on Nov. 6 against either No. 2 Mountain Ridge or No. 15 Cedar Valley at the higher seed's home field.
