Local prep sports saw significant action on August 19, featuring decisive victories in both volleyball and girls soccer across multiple Utah regions.
In Region 20 volleyball, Rylee Frei recorded 12 kills to help the Escalante Moquis defeat Water Canyon 3-1. The Moquis won the match with scores of 25-21, 25-23, 25-27, and 25-21. Other non-region volleyball results included Panguitch defeating Kanab 3-0, Millard beating South Sevier 3-1, and Pine View defeating Richfield 3-1.
In 2A South girls soccer, South Sevier defeated Parowan 2-1. Harley Freeman and Shelby Carter each scored a goal for South Sevier, while Cassie Haynie scored for the Parowan Rams.
Several other non-region girls soccer matches were held on August 19. The Manti Templars blanked Richfield 1-0, with Adelie Douglas scoring the lone goal and Averie Jo Robbins recording a shutout. The American Leadership Eagles defeated Juab 1-0, behind a goal from Havynn Anderson and a shutout by Kaylin Hernandez. Additionally, the Millard Eagles beat Emery 3-0, led by two goals from Avery Morgan and a shutout from Ruby DeGraffenried.
The matches took place in locations including Escalante, Monroe, Richfield, Spanish Fork, and Castle Dale.
