President Dallin H. Oaks, President of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, concluded the Sunday afternoon session of the October 2026 general conference in Salt Lake City. During his remarks, Oaks invited individuals to attend an upcoming open house at the Salt Lake Temple starting in April 2027.
Oaks stated that attendees, viewers, and listeners may have felt inspired during the conference to focus their learning and worship on the teachings of the Lord Jesus Christ and His Father's plan for eternal joy. He invited people to prayerfully ponder the messages shared throughout the two-day conference and to revisit them.
In his concluding remarks, Oaks shared a testimony regarding the restored gospel of Jesus Christ. He stated that truth can be found within the Church regarding the teachings of the Lord and the covenant path that leads to the destiny desired by Heavenly Father. He concluded by invoking blessings of peace and contentment upon families.
In addition to the temple open house invitation, Oaks invited individuals to view a new video series being released by the Church titled "Dedicate." The Sunday session took place at the Conference Center in Salt Lake City on Oct. 4, 2026.
President Oaks has served as an apostle for 41 years and was set apart as the 18th President of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on Oct. 14, 2025, following the death of President Russell M. Nelson.
Before his call to apostleship in 1984, Oaks served as a Utah Supreme Court justice and as a law clerk to Chief Justice Earl Warren at the U.S. Supreme Court. He also served as the president of Brigham Young University from 1971 to 1980, during which time he oversaw the creation of the graduate business school and the J. Reuben Clark Law School.
Oaks married Sister Kristen M. McMain in the Salt Lake Temple on Aug. 25, 2000. He and his late wife, Sister June Dixon Oaks, who died July 21, 1998, are the parents of six children.
