The town of Charleston celebrated Pioneer Day with an extensive schedule of community events. The festivities began early in the morning with a flag-raising ceremony at 6:45 AM, followed by a 5K run and walk open to all ages and fitness levels starting at 7:00 AM.
Morning activities included the Charleston Town Breakfast from 7:00 AM to 9:00 AM and a fun run for children aged 12 and under. The day continued with cornhole tournament sign-ups, a car show at 9:00 AM, and the arrival of vendors and food trucks at 11:00 AM.
Throughout the afternoon, the celebration featured a silent auction, local entertainment, and a cornhole tournament. Other scheduled activities included kids games, a root beer chug competition, and the Splash & GRAB event. Weather permitting, tethered hot air balloon rides were also offered at 3:00 PM.
The evening program featured a parade starting at Soldier Hollow Charter School and ending at Charleston Park at 6:00 PM. The celebration concluded with headliner entertainment from local artists from Lees Music at 7:00 PM and a light show in the park at 10:00 PM.
