A man was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries after being stabbed Tuesday night in front of the Salt Lake City Justice Courts building, according to the Salt Lake City Police Department.
Details of the stabbing incident
Sgt. Kevin Blue with the Salt Lake City Police Department reported the incident occurred around 11:16 p.m. at 333 S. 200 East. A bystander discovered the victim and provided aid before calling 911, as the man did not have a cellphone to call for help, Blue said.
Police search for unidentified suspect
Police used drones and canines in an attempt to locate the suspect but were unable to find them. The suspect is described as a white adult male, possibly in his late 40s, with short dark hair and wearing a flannel shirt.
Upcoming FBI fraud presentation
In Vernal, the Vernal Police Department is encouraging residents to attend an FBI fraud presentation scheduled for Monday, June 15, from 3 to 4 p.m. The event will take place in the Vernal City Conference Room at 374 East Main.
The department noted that scammers are becoming more sophisticated and that older adults in the community have been significantly impacted by fraud. Attendees will learn about reporting malicious activities to law enforcement and IC3.gov.
Mount Ogden summer programs
Mount Ogden Junior High is hosting several summer programs, including Summer Bridge 9th Grade Credit Recovery sessions that ran from June 8 through June 11.
A free Utah Community Math Initiative, sponsored by the Utah State Board of Education, is scheduled to take place at the Mount Ogden Junior High Library on Thursdays from June 11 through July 16. The program, involving researchers from Rethink Learning Labs, offers interactive math games and workshops for students in grades K-8 and their families.
Local community summer activities
Other local summer activities include weekly swimming clinics at the Ben Lomond Community Pool for students ages 13-18, running on July 11, 18, and 25, as well as August 1, 8, and 15. Additionally, the Ogden School District's Summer Meals Program continues to provide free breakfast and lunch to children ages 0-18 at various district locations.
