The Canyon Grove Board held a meeting on September 21, 2025, where members unanimously approved multiple organizational policies and moved forward with a construction project. The session included discussions regarding academic goals and teacher qualifications for the LEA.
During the meeting, the board voted to proceed with One West for an upcoming construction project following a motion by Caleb and a second by Josh.
Regarding academic performance, Rachael, the Assessment and Achievement Director, reported that Acadience reading goals have been met for eight years. While general math growth goals were not met last year, local math goals were achieved. The board discussed a new goal for 60% of students to reach their growth math goals, utilizing targeted interventions such as mentors and tutors.
The board also voted unanimously to approve Katie Peterson and Will Baird as LEA specific teachers. Discussion regarding these approvals focused on qualifications for teachers not yet in the APPEL Program, noting Peterson holds a bachelor's degree and is pursuing higher education, while Baird possesses a degree and experience.
Several policy updates were passed during the meeting. The board adopted a Child Abuse/Neglect Policy that supports state law and code to protect students, families, and the school. A Bullying Policy was also adopted following a need for specific terms required by the state.
Additionally, the board approved the Surplus Property Management Policy and updates to the Information Technology Plan and Policy based on recommendations from experts.
The meeting concluded with a unanimous vote to enter an executive session. The June Meeting Minutes were also approved at the start of the proceedings.
