Kimberly Ryszka has been named the new band director at South Summit. A passionate music educator, Ryszka expressed excitement about sharing her talents and love for music with others through the program.
Ryszka previously worked part time in the South Summit band program eight years ago, teaching alongside Mr. Flinders. She is delighted to return to the school and looks forward to interacting with both the school and community levels.
Ryszka brings extensive experience to the role, having spent the last 10 years helping grow the band program in Heber City. During her time there, she served as an assistant to the director and woodwind specialist, playing a major role in the success of the Wasatch high school band program.
Her musical background includes studying music education at BYU-Idaho, where she participated in top performing ensembles and five performance tours both stateside and internationally. Ryszka began playing the saxophone in 6th grade and decided to pursue a career as a band director in 8th grade.
Beyond her work with secondary bands, Ryszka has experience teaching preschool and elementary music, private woodwind lessons, and group Presto piano classes for Let’s Play Music.
In her personal life, she is the wife of John Ryszka and a mother to five children. The family enjoys adventures in their airplane and are fans of Disneyland.
