The Box Elder County Planning Commission held a public hearing on Thursday, October 29, 2026, at 6 p.m. to review the proposed Box Elder Together countywide zoning plan. The meeting took place at the Historic Courthouse in the Commission Chambers located at 1 South Main Street in Brigham City, Utah.
The proposed zoning plan is designed to establish baseline rules for how property may be used and developed. The initiative intends to provide greater predictability for businesses, farmers, residents, and property owners while recognizing the county's agricultural heritage and existing land uses.
Under the proposal, zoning designations would be established for land in unincorporated Box Elder County that is currently unzoned. Most of the currently unzoned property is expected to be proposed for Agricultural Heritage Zone (AHZ) zoning, though appropriate areas may be proposed for General Industrial (M-G) zoning.
Box Elder Together is a separate countywide zoning initiative and is not related to the temporary data-center land-use moratorium or the Stratos Data Center/MIDA Project.
During the hearing, the Planning Commission reviewed the proposal, received public comments, and considered presented information to make a recommendation to the County Commission.
The proposal is scheduled to be presented to the Box Elder County Commission on Tuesday, November 17, 2026, at 11:30 a.m. for consideration and possible action. The County Commission will consider the proposal and the recommendation from the Planning Commission at a subsequent public meeting before a final decision is made.
