Thunder Junction All Abilities Park will host a 10-year anniversary celebration and a groundbreaking ceremony for Phase II on Oct. 20 from 5 to 7 p.m. The dinosaur-themed park, located at 1851 South Dixie Drive in St. George, will feature food trucks, games, music, face painting, and magic shows.
The anniversary event will include free rides on the C.P. Huntington train and community resource booths where guests can connect with organizations providing services to individuals with disabilities. Hannah Keller, City of St. George Recreation Supervisor at Thunder Junction, stated the park has been a place where people of all abilities are welcome since it first opened 10 years ago.
The celebration will also serve to introduce the park's next phase through a groundbreaking ceremony for Thunder Junction Phase II. This 2.5-acre expansion will feature Ice Age-themed equipment, rides, and amenities designed for inclusive play. Key features of the expansion include new slides and an additional train stop to increase accessibility and convenience.
According to Hannah Keller, sponsorship opportunities for the expansion will be made available to local businesses and individuals. St. George is the fifth-largest city in Utah, with more than 100,000 residents.
While admission to Thunder Junction All Abilities Park is free year-round, train rides normally cost $2 per person.
