Utah State University's Blanding and Eastern campuses provide specialized testing services for academic, certification, and professional exams, offering proctored environments for both university students and external candidates. Blanding Testing Protocols
The USU Blanding Testing Center, located at the HSL Testing Center, provides standardized and proctored testing services on an appointment basis, with the exception of classroom-specific tests. According to the university, all individuals attempting tests must present a valid picture identification. Furthermore, all testing fees must be settled prior to the scheduled test date, and testers should present proof of payment when they arrive.
To maintain academic integrity, the Blanding facility enforces strict rules regarding prohibited items. Food, drinks, and cellphones are not permitted within the center. Additionally, no electronic devices are allowed during testing sessions. While calculators and study materials are generally prohibited, they may be used if an instructor specifically indicates that they are permitted for a particular exam.
Blanding Exam Selection
The Blanding center accommodates a diverse array of assessments, including the ACCUPLACER English Placement Test, the General Education Development (GED) test, and the HESI Nursing Program Entrance Test. Other available exams include the Miller Analogies Test (MAT), the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL), and the Utah Certified Nurse Aide (CNA) exam.
Professional and certification testing is also available through the Blanding center, including the Police Officer Selection Test (POST) and various pesticide exams from the Department of Agriculture/Food. Eastern Campus Services
The USU Eastern Testing Services, located in Reeves Room 114 at the Price campus, also provides proctored course exams and standardized testing for both USU students and non-students. The facility maintains a commitment to high academic integrity standards across all administered assessments. Students are advised to schedule their exams at least 24 hours in advance, and the center notes that the last exam is administered one hour before closing.
Eastern Exam Diversity
The Eastern campus offers a broad spectrum of testing categories, including admissions and entrance exams such as the Graduate Record Examination (GRE) and the TOEFL. It also facilitates certification exams for various industries, such as Automotive Service Excellence (ASE), Praxis, PSI, and Food Safety Managers Certification. Other specific certifications available include the Certified Nurses Aide (CNA), the Police Officer Selection Test (POST), and the Pesticide Applicator exam.
For students seeking credit through examinations, the Eastern campus offers language credits via the College Level Exam Program (CLEP) and the Foreign Language Achievement Test (FLAT) in subjects such as Spanish, German, French, and Russian. The center also administers the ALEKS PPL for math placement, though these exams must be scheduled specifically by phone, email, or in person and are not available during finals week.
Eastern Scheduling and Fees
The USU Eastern Testing Center provides proctoring services for external colleges, universities, or specific programs. Non-USU testers are required to contact the center to confirm exam administration and are responsible for communicating with their respective institutions regarding the arrangement and delivery of testing materials. The fee for these non-USU services is $26 per visit, which must be paid at the Testing Center via card only.
Operating hours at the Eastern campus vary by semester and day. During the fall semester, the center is open from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Mondays, and from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday through Friday. The center is closed on Saturdays, Sundays, and USU holidays. During the finals week scheduled from December 14 to December 18, the center extends its hours to 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.
Eastern Campus Holiday Schedule
The Eastern campus observes several holidays and breaks throughout the year, including Memorial Day on May 25, Juneteenth on June 15, and Independence Day on July 3. Other closures include Pioneer Day on July 24, Labor Day on September 7, and the Thanksgiving holiday period covering November 26 and 27. The center also closes for the holiday breaks on December 24 and December 25 and December 31.
