The S.J. Quinney College of Law has expressed sadness regarding the passing of U.S. Sen. Orrin Hatch. The college described Hatch as a friend and supporter of both the institution and its community.
As a lawyer, Hatch left a significant legacy within the legal profession and served as a dedicated champion for the people of Utah.
The college recalled Hatch's involvement in major institutional milestones, including his role as a distinguished guest and speaker during the 2016 grand opening ceremony for the new Utah Law building.
During that event, Hatch spoke alongside Utah Governor Gary Herbert and S.J. Quinney College of Law Dean Robert Adler.
The college stated that Hatch's service to the state was monumental and noted that he will be greatly missed. The institution continues to remember Senator Hatch while celebrating his lifetime of accomplishments and service.
