Price City officials held a council workshop on August 12, 2026, to discuss various municipal updates, including public safety reports and infrastructure projects, according to meeting minutes published August 27.
During the meeting, Jess Housekeeper, the Director of Operations for Valar Atomics, and other employees presented information regarding a new nuclear energy plant in Orangeville and future facility plans.
Police Chief Brandon Sicilia reported 837 incidents for the month and noted positive police presence during International Days. He requested additional lighting for Terrace Hills Park, a concern echoed by Councilmember Tina Urbanik, who identified non-working hazard lights near International Days as a safety hazard.
Administrative Director Nick Tatton reported that proceeds from the 2026 International Days will be donated to local entities following a public hearing at the August 26, 2026, City Council meeting. Other administrative updates included the adoption of a privacy policy for personally identifiable information and a draft ordinance for a Landscape Incentive Program. A conditional use permit for dorms near the college was scheduled for a possible approval at the September 8, 2026, Planning and Zoning meeting.
Public Works Director Miles Nelson provided updates on several projects, noting the completion of the Pickleball Courts and the setting of the mountain bike bridge on its foundation. He also mentioned the Notice of Award for the Spring Line Transmission Line project to Condie Construction and updates regarding the EIS Reservoir and Meads Wash projects. The department is currently managing two vacancies in the water department.
Fire Chief David David Johnson reported that fireworks restrictions were obeyed during July holidays and noted that new volunteer firefighters have been certified.
Finance Director Lisa Richens stated that audit preparations are set for October and mentioned that the city will continue using Caselle for financial services after Xpress Bill Pay ceases working with the provider in November.
The workshop concluded at 5:21 p.m. with Mayor Willis raising questions regarding the value and impact of Price City events on various departments and manpower.
