The supernatural thriller The Hollow Ones is scheduled to screen on Saturday, Oct. 24, at 2:30 p.m. at the Kaysville Theatre, according to a Oct. 21 report by The Ogdenite. The locally produced film is the first feature from indie filmmaker and Weber State University graduate Sam Potter.
The 84-minute drama-thriller was filmed over six months in the Northern Utah cities of West Haven and Riverdale. Produced independently by Potter, a local family nurse practitioner, the film utilized a small budget and local actors, including the sons of the writer and director.
The plot follows two brothers in foster care as they attempt to uncover the mystery of their deceased parents during a Halloween night. A press release describes the film as a blend of mystery and suspense that focuses on themes of grief, family, and the relationship between the two brothers.
The Hollow Ones was nominated for the Power Stone Award for Best Drama/Thriller at the Zepstone International Film and Music Festival in Murray, Utah, in September. The production has also been named an official selection for several festivals, including the New York Monthly Film Festival, Alpine International Festival, London Visions Film Festival, and the Los Angeles Lift-Off Online Film Festival.
The screening at the Kaysville Theatre, located at 21 N. Main St., will require a $10 admission fee. Tickets can be purchased in advance through Eventbrite.com by searching for The Hollow Ones Screening or at the door. The film will be available for streaming one week after the scheduled screening.
