Jordan Faison is thriving as a receiver for Notre Dame after deciding to step away from lacrosse to focus on football, according to an October 7 report. The decision has helped the fourth-year receiver emerge as a primary target for the Fighting Irish offense.
Faison, who arrived at Notre Dame as one of the nation's top lacrosse recruits, previously played in a Wing-T offense as a prep quarterback. After helping Notre Dame win the 2024 lacrosse national championship as a freshman, he transitioned to making football his sole priority last spring. Faison stated that the break from lacrosse helped him feel better prepared for football during spring and fall camp.
The 5-foot-11 receiver leads the third-ranked Irish with 25 catches, 371 receiving yards, and four touchdown receptions this season. His performance comes as the team averages 41.2 points per game and carries a 15-game winning streak, with all victories occurring by 10 or more points. Faison recently recorded a career-high eight catches for 132 yards during a game against North Carolina last weekend.
Notre Dame's offense has seen significant changes following the departure of top running backs Jeremiyah Love and Jadarian Price, who were selected in the first round of April's NFL draft. This shift has contributed to the growing chemistry between Faison and quarterback C.J. Carr. Coach Marcus Freeman attributed Faison's success to his route-running speed, precision in cuts, and timing with the quarterback.
Notre Dame's next game is scheduled for Saturday against rival Stanford.
