Lone Peak secured its fourth all-time 6A girls soccer state title with a 3-0 shutout victory over Davis High at Zions Bank Stadium in Herriman on Friday, Oct. 23, 2026. The top-seeded Knights defeated the No. 2 Darts in a rematch of the 2024 championship game, marking the second time in three years the two programs have met for the state title.
Lone Peak Dominates Finals
The victory for Lone Peak serves as a significant milestone for the program, which has maintained a dominant presence in the 6A classification. This latest championship follows a successful run in the semifinals where the Knights secured a 3-0 win over American Fork on Monday, Oct. 19, 2026. In that semifinal matchup, Scottlyn Schlosser recorded her sixth shutout of the season to help propel the Knights toward the final.
Early Knights Lead
The Lone Peak offense was relentless from the opening whistle. The Knights established an early lead approximately 20 seconds after kickoff when Sami Schiffman delivered a pass to Macie Leavitt for a goal. This early strike set the tone for the match, as the Knights maintained a lead they would never relinquish throughout the contest. Nya Piercy doubled the advantage just before the halftime interval, and Kami McMurtey extended the lead to 3-0 midway through the second half to secure the victory.
Davis Faces Runner-Up Finish
For Davis High, the loss marks their second runner-up finish during the coaching tenure of Dillon Richens. The Darts, entering the match with a 15-5 record, had previously reached the championship match in 2024, when they suffered a 2-0 loss to the Knights in a similar scenario. Several of the 14 seniors who participated in that 2024 runner-up performance were also on the field for the Friday match.
Darts Semifinal Comeback
Davis' path to the 2026 finals included a hard-fought 3-2 semifinal victory over Region 1 rival Farmington on Oct. 19, 2026. That match was highlighted by a performance from Samantha Maudsley, who recorded both a goal and an assist. Maudsley's second-half goal, assisted by Avery Johnson in the 63rd minute, ultimately secured the championship berth for the Darts. The victory was bolstered by two goals from Kate Willard, who surpassed the 20-goal mark for the season during that semifinal game.
A Growing Rivalry
The rivalry between the Knights and the Darts has been a recurring theme in Utah high school soccer. Lone Peak entered the 2026 finals with a 17-3 record and a significant winning streak against their Region 3 rivals that dates back to September 2020. Prior to the 2026 final, the Knights had secured titles in both 2023 and 2024, establishing themselves as a perennial powerhouse in the state.
Coaching Perspective
Lone Peak coach Shantel Jolley expressed enthusiasm for the team's return to the championship stage. While the team had previously lost the 2025 6A championship match to Syracuse with a score of 2-0, Jolley noted that the team felt they had something specific to prove during the 2026 campaign. The team's performance in the final underscored their status as the top seed entering the tournament.
Championship Atmosphere
The championship match took place at Zions Bank Stadium in Herriman, drawing significant support from the Davis High student section. The game highlighted the high level of competition within the 6A classification, as both the No. 1 and No. 2 seeds met to decide the state title in a high-stakes environment.
