Construction on the bridge connecting the Toquerville, LaVerkin, and Hurricane areas is scheduled to begin on Tuesday, November 10, 2026, according to a November 5 statement from the city. The project involves installing a new fence around the inside portion of the Virgin River bridge and adding anti-climb sections to designated portions of the existing fence to increase public safety.
Work is scheduled to commence on Tuesday, November 10, 2026, with an estimated completion date of Wednesday, December 30, 2026. Crews will operate strictly on business days, Monday through Friday.
To prevent impeding high-traffic volume periods, all lanes will be fully reopened and crews will exit the bridge by 3:00 PM daily. This 3:00 PM reopening deadline is being enforced specifically to ensure that afternoon school bus routes running across the bridge are not delayed.
To facilitate a safe installation, it will be necessary to close a traffic lane. Officials intend to minimize disruptions by limiting closures to a single lane in only one direction at a time. Safe pedestrian access across the bridge will be maintained throughout the duration of the project.
If weather delays or unforeseen circumstances threaten the completion timeline, operations may be expanded to nights and/or weekends. Should this become necessary, at least 24 hours of advance notice will be provided. For questions or concerns, 435-590-9157.
