The South Valley Chamber of Commerce continues to drive regional economic growth through specialized business education and strategic partnerships, building upon a foundation of statewide advocacy established by the Utah Chamber. These organizations work to foster a vibrant business ecosystem through networking, legislative advocacy, and professional development programs designed to support entrepreneurs across Salt Lake County and the broader state.
Regional Business Support and Education
The South Valley Chamber of Commerce, located at 9800 S. Monroe St., Ste 806 in Sandy, operates to help businesses achieve their highest level of success. According to the organization, its mission is to create and maintain a business ecosystem that supports ongoing growth, collaboration, and job creation. To achieve these goals, the chamber utilizes networking events, forums, and advocacy efforts.
A key component of the chamber's educational outreach is the South Valley Business Institute. This institute offers specialized business courses, including an award-winning mini-MBA program. To ensure these resources reach a wide audience, the chamber has formed strategic partnerships with several cities, including Sandy, Draper, Riverton, South Jordan, Cottonwood Heights, Herriman, and Bluffdale.
Statewide Advocacy and Representation
While the South Valley Chamber manages local community engagement, the Utah Chamber serves as a broader voice for the state's diverse business community. As of Aug. 21, 2026, the organization continues to represent industries ranging from large corporations to small businesses across all Utah regions, from the Wasatch Front to the deserts of St. George.
The Utah Chamber's mission involves amplifying the needs and challenges of businesses in both Salt Lake City and Washington, D.C., by advocating for pro-business policies. The organization's structure is designed to represent the entire state, with its branding reflecting the geography and values of Utah, including the mountains of the north, the beehive of central Utah, and the arches of the southern regions.
Specialized Economic Development Entities
The Utah Chamber also houses two significant specialized entities: the Economic Development Corporation of Utah (EDCUtah) and the Women’s Business Center of Utah (WBCUtah).
EDCUtah is a private nonprofit organization founded in 1987. It works to catalyze capital investment and create strategic economic opportunities to generate quality jobs. The organization specifically supports businesses that are looking to expand their operations or relocate to Utah.
In a separate effort to support entrepreneurship, the Women’s Business Center of Utah operates as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit. Funded in part through a cooperative agreement with the Salt Lake Chamber and the U.S. Small Business Administration, the WBCUtah aims to help women build confidence and achieve success in business ownership.
Statewide Small Business Resources
Complementing the work of chambers and development corporations, the Utah Small Business Development Center (SBDC) provides physical resources through a statewide network. The SBDC maintains 10 physical centers hosted by various colleges and universities across the state. These centers allow entrepreneurs to access services in person or via online meetings at their convenience.
Key SBDC locations include centers in Cedar City at Southern Utah University, Kaysville at the Davis Tech Business Resource Center, and Logan at Utah State University. Other physical hubs are located in Orem, Price, Richfield, Salt Lake City, St. George, Tooele, and Vernal. Each location is overseen by a director and serves specific counties to ensure localized support for business owners.
A Multi-Layered Support System
The City of Sandy and other regional municipalities continue to offer various forms of small business assistance to supplement these organizational efforts. Through a combination of chamber-led education, statewide legislative advocacy, and localized SBDC resources, Utah maintains a multi-layered support system for its business community.
