The Magna City Council is scheduled to hold a meeting at 6:00 PM on Sept. 8, 2026, according to a Sept. 7 notice. The meeting will be held at the Broadway Building, located at 3151 South Broadway Street (7700 West) in Magna, Utah.
The agenda for the meeting includes a discussion regarding a council vacancy. The council is expected to interview candidates for a mid-term vacancy in District 5, vote on filling the vacancy, and swear in the newly appointed council member.
Other scheduled items include a presentation on code restatement and standard operating procedures by Nathan Bracken. The council will also hear reports from Unified Fire Authority Chief Kelly Millard and Unified Police Department Chief Christopher Benedict. Additionally, the council will review the meeting minutes from the Aug. 25, 2026, session.
Public comments are permitted during the meeting, though participants are limited to two minutes per person. To speak on items not on the public hearing agenda, individuals must sign up and state their name. Council members will not respond during these comments, but city staff may follow up if necessary.
Certain portions of the meeting may be closed for reasons allowed by statute, such as discussions regarding litigation, real property, or the professional competence of an individual.
