The first pitch of the popular climbing route Jah Man, located on Sister Superior near Castle Valley, has been altered by a recent rock fall. According to Greg Child, the flake that formed both the chimney and the belay ledge recently crashed off the tower.
The collapse has prompted discussions among the climbing community regarding the new state of the route. Some climbers noted that while the bottom half of the climb may still be accessible, the loss of the chimney feature could make the remaining section considerably harder.
One climber, Andrew F, reported experiencing spooky noises and vibrations through the flake while rappelling during a climb in November. Another climber, Jackson Moody, expressed relief at not being on the lead of the first pitch given the recent change.
The community continues to discuss the implications for future ascents of the route. While some members joked about bolting or gluing the rock back into place, the primary focus remains on the loss of this classic climbing feature.
