According to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) documentation, Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) officers prioritize enforcement actions based on agency priorities, funding, and capacity. ERO is responsible for the identification, arrest, detention, and removal of individuals subject to removal or who are unlawfully present in the United States.
ICE documentation notes that ERO operations are designed to be flexible to allow officers to respond to events such as spikes in border crossings or modifications to U.S. laws. The agency's mission is to protect the homeland by arresting and removing those who undermine the safety of national communities and the integrity of U.S. immigration laws.
