From high-achieving STEM competitors in Salt Lake City to alumni mentorship programs in Provo, Utah educational institutions are celebrating recent student milestones and community connections.
TSA Competition Success
Several students from Beehive Science and Technology Academy earned top honors at the Technology Student Association (TSA) state competition, securing spots in the national competition held in Nashville, Tennessee. Middle school students Maxim Stepanenko and Ella West earned multiple first-place awards in categories such as Biotech and Forensic Technology.
Academy Educational Philosophy
Beehive Academy Executive Director Hanifi Oguz stated that the academy's priority is preparing students to be successful global citizens by teaching them skills applicable to real-life scenarios. Science teacher Sara Welsh added that the TSA program allows students to apply classroom knowledge toward real-world STEM applications.
Alumni Mentorship Visit
At Waterford School, 2025–26 Distinguished Alumni Award recipient Jake Reynolds returned to campus for a visit focused on mentorship. Reynolds, who serves as the President of the New Jersey Devils, joined the middle school boys basketball team during practice and delivered a presentation to students.
Reynolds Shares Professional Values
A Waterford School announcement noted that Reynolds shared how the school's values of integrity, responsibility, curiosity, caring, and excellence guide his professional life. During the visit, he engaged in a question-and-answer session regarding career pathways and leadership.
High School Athletic Updates
Athletic programs at Wendover High School and Grand County High School are also managing upcoming seasonal activities. Wendover High School's athletic calendar includes volleyball matches against Altamont and Tabiona in mid-August, as well as the Valley Baseball Tournament.
Grand County High School has outlined specific registration requirements for student athletes, including mandatory medical examinations, concussion policy acknowledgments, and the completion of anti-hazing and sportsmanship training.
