Utah officials implemented a fire restriction in Cache County due to current and forecasted weather conditions and extremely dry vegetation in Northern Utah.
The restriction, titled ORDER # BRCLO2621, prohibits open fires, smoking, discharging fireworks, cutting metal in dry areas, and operating small engines without a spark arrestor. Exceptions include permit holders and on-duty firefighters. The order applies to unincorporated areas in Cache County but does not affect private lands within incorporated towns. Violations are punishable by up to six months in jail and a $1,000 fine and are enforced by county law enforcement. The restriction takes effect at 12:01 a.m. on June 19, 2026.
The measures are in accordance with Utah State Law, Section 65A-8-212, and were issued by the State Forester in consultation with the county commission.
