Utah Jazz forwards Lauri Markkanen and Jaren Jackson Jr. both exited with injuries early in the first half of a 110-105 loss to the Memphis Grizzlies on Monday, Oct. 26, 2026. Both players were ruled out for the remainder of the game in Salt Lake City.
Lauri Markkanen left the game with 5:58 remaining in the first quarter after suffering a wrist injury. He went to the locker room while holding his right wrist after his arm became sandwiched between Jackson and Cam Boozer during a tangle on the perimeter. Markkanen finished the contest with two points in six minutes of play.
Jaren Jackson Jr. left the game with 10:04 remaining in the second quarter after injuring his right knee. Jackson recorded six points, three rebounds, and two assists during 10 minutes of play.
Markkanen has averaged 20.7 points, 7.3 rebounds, and 2.3 assists through the first three games of the season. Over his previous two seasons with the Jazz, he appeared in 89 games and has not played more than 66 games in a single season since being traded to Utah before the 2022-23 season.
Jackson has averaged 19.7 points and 5.7 rebounds in the first three games of the season. Last season, Jackson appeared in only three games for Utah after being acquired via trade from Memphis before undergoing season-ending surgery on his left knee. In those three contests, he averaged 22.3 points and 4.3 rebounds.
Utah coach Will Hardy stated that the team would know more about the players' status once they received imaging. Both Markkanen and Jackson were scheduled to undergo an MRI on Tuesday to determine the extent of their injuries.
