Utah State secured a 17-10 victory over Fresno State on Saturday night, driven by a defensive performance that limited the Bulldogs to 16 rushing yards. The win, reported by multiple outlets on November 8, marks the third victory in the last four games for the Aggies.
The Aggie defense achieved its best rushing defense performance since 2021, when the team held San Jose State to 12 yards. During the game at Maverik Stadium, the defense recorded 10 tackles for loss, including two sacks. While Fresno State's quarterback finished with 262 passing yards, Utah State's offense was led by McCae Hillstead, who completed 9 of 14 passes for 117 yards and added 56 rushing yards.
Utah State held a 14-0 lead at halftime. The Aggies extended their lead to 17-3 following a 43-yard field goal by Kian Afrookhteh. Fresno State's only touchdown occurred late in the game on a 12-yard pass from Jayden Mandal with 1:30 remaining. Reflecting on the performance, coach Bronco Mendenhall stated that not many teams are playing team football.
With the win, Utah State moves to a 4-5 record and 3-2 in Pac-12 play.
The Aggies are scheduled to play at San Diego State next Saturday.
