San Juan County businesses and organizations are offering thanks following the rollout of the Governor's PPE Push Pack. The program, which began distributing starter kits on May 15th, has seen participation from all 47 businesses or organizations in San Juan County.
San Juan County Emergency Manager Tammy Gallegos managed the distribution of these packages. While 45 participants collected their supplies at the San Juan County Fairgrounds in Monticello, the program continues to support local safety efforts.
Melinda Redd of Jackalope Trading Company in Monticello shared that the PPE Push Pack has been helpful in allowing her gift shop to reopen by appointment. She noted that the supplies allow the shop to provide disposable masks to customers who do not have their own and help maintain safety at the entrance.
Similarly, Ben Muhlstein, the Education Coordinator for the Canyon Country Discovery Center in Monticello, stated that the push pack provided materials necessary to bring employees back into the building safely. He noted that the supplies will also assist in bringing the public back into the facility.
As part of the San Juan Strong Promise, additional PPE and safety reminders such as posters and tabletop cards are being distributed this week in Blanding, Bluff, and Monticello. This effort is a coordination between San Juan County Economic Development and Visitors Services and the San Juan Health Department.
Recognition was given to Tammy Gallegos, Natalie Freestone, Linda Simmons, and David Gallegos for their work in organizing the distribution of supplies from the Governor's Office.
