The Cache County Sheriff's Office has issued a scam alert following numerous reports from residents regarding fraudulent phone calls. Individuals are reportedly contacting residents while pretending to represent the Sheriff's Office.
These scammers demand payment from victims by claiming that failure to pay will result in an arrest and the issuance of a warrant.
The Sheriff's Office clarified that these calls are not from their agency. Officials advised residents never to provide personal information, credit card numbers, money, or pre-paid card information to callers.
The office stated they will never request payment over the phone for a warrant and will never ask for gift cards as a means to resolve any obligations.
Residents who receive suspicious phone calls or wish to verify if they have an active warrant can contact the Cache County Sheriff's Office at (435) 755-1000.
