Sandy City police responded to a shooting Sunday afternoon near 9700 South and 1200 East, finding an adult male deceased from an apparent gunshot wound. According to a September 28 report by Gephardt Daily, officers also located a second juvenile male suffering from a gunshot wound to the leg.
Officers arrived at the scene at approximately 12:30 p.m. and took one juvenile male into custody without incident. The injured juvenile was transported to a local hospital and is reported to be in stable condition.
Detectives have assumed the investigation into the incident. The juvenile male taken into custody was later booked into juvenile detention, and officials stated that charges will be forthcoming.
The Sandy City Police Department stated there is no ongoing threat to the public. Because the case involves juveniles, no additional information is being released while the investigation remains active.
