Jazz forward Jaren Jackson Jr. is expected to miss approximately six to eight weeks after being diagnosed with a torn MCL in his right knee, according to a October 27 report from ESPN's Shams Charania and Tim MacMahon.
Jackson will not require surgery to repair the tear.
The injury occurred early in the second quarter of Monday's loss to Memphis when Grizzlies guard Ty Jerome fell into Jackson's right knee. After remaining on the floor in pain for a few moments, Jackson completed one offensive possession before being ruled out for the remainder of the game.
In his three full games with the Jazz this fall, Jackson averaged 19.7 points, 5.7 rebounds, and 1.7 blocks in 31.3 minutes per night. The Jazz fell to a 1-3 record following Monday's loss.
The injury comes at a difficult time for the Utah Jazz frontcourt. Lauri Markkanen also exited Monday's contest early due to a wrist injury, though the severity of that injury has not been updated. Additionally, starting center Jusuf Nurkic is out with a toe injury, and reserve center Jaxson Hayes missed Monday's game due to right shoulder soreness.
Other players who saw increased roles during the second half of Monday's game included Mo Bamba, Josh Green, and Josh Okogie. Center Tony Bradley also appeared in his first game of the season.
