As families come together to enjoy the summer, the Washington City Police Department encourages everyone to celebrate responsibly and help keep our community safe.Fireworks are a highlight of July, but they also bring increased fire danger and injury risk. To keep our neighborhoods safe:Use only legal, Utah‑approved fireworks and follow all posted restrictions.Never ignite fireworks near dry brush, open fields, or structures.Keep water nearby — a hose, bucket, or extinguisher.Supervise children closely around all fireworks, sparklers included.Be mindful of pets and veterans who may be sensitive to loud noise.Our officers will be conducting extra patrols in high‑activity areas to support safe celebrations throughout the holiday period. With temperatures climbing, we remind residents to take precautions:Stay hydrated and avoid prolonged exposure during peak heat.Never leave children or pets in vehicles — even for a moment.Use designated trails and carry water when hiking or biking.Check on elderly neighbors or those who may need assistance.As the nation approaches the 250th anniversary of American independence, Washington City is proud to participate in the year‑long celebration.
