Washington City Proclamation Designating June 2026 as
Faith, Family, and Patriotism Month in Washington City

WHEREAS, the National Opinion Research Center and the Wall Street Journal found that a recent opinion poll of Americans showed support for traditional values, such as faith, family, and patriotism are declining; and
WHEREAS, the principles of faith, family, and patriotism have long been seen as crucial for the health of American society; and
WHEREAS, societies that value faith, family, and patriotism have high rates of volunteerism in both religious and secular causes; and
WHEREAS, research suggests that children raised in environments that encourage religious or spiritual engagement may experience lower rates of depression and substance abuse and benefit from stronger social, emotional, and behavioral well-being; and
WHEREAS, extensive research indicates that children raised in stable, married, two-parent households are more likely to graduate from college and achieve economic self-sufficiency, and less likely to experience poverty, depression, involvement in criminal activity, or teen parenthood; and WHEREAS, James Madison said “To suppose that any form of government will secure liberty or happiness without any virtue in the people, is an imaginary idea.”; and
WHEREAS, George Washington stated that “Of all the dispositions and habits which lead to political prosperity, religion and morality are indispensable supports.”; and WHEREAS, George Washington said in his First Inaugural Address, "No people can be bound to acknowledge and adore the Invisible Hand which conducts the affairs of men more than the people of the United States.”; and WHEREAS, the cultivation of virtues such as faith, devotion to family, service to community, and love of country contributes to human flourishing and healthy societies. NOW THEREFORE, I Kress Staheli, Mayor of the City of Washington, Utah along with the City Council , declare June 2026 as:
Faith, Family, and Patriotism Month
In the City of Washington for the purpose of rededicating the community to the civic virtues of faith, family, and patriotism.
IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused to be affixed the Seal of the City of Washington, Utah this 10th day of June, 2026.
