With only four weeks remaining in the school year, Principal Adam Baker has announced a series of upcoming events and important academic updates for students and families.
The schedule includes community celebrations such as the Dixie Power Kite Festival at Utah Tech University on April 25, where students can receive a free book, kite, or activity voucher. Additionally, the school will host its Annual Hot Dog Night on April 30 from 5:00 to 6:30 p.m. to celebrate 50 years at the new school location, featuring dinner, summer learning kits, and Ga Ga Ball.
Teacher Appreciation Week is scheduled for May 4 through May 8 with a Star Wars theme. The week includes several themed daily activities:
May 4 features Teacher Look-a-like Day and Star Wars Day.
May 5 encourages students to write notes or draw pictures titled Letters from the Galaxy.
May 6 focuses on acts of kindness called Fuel the Force.
May 7 involves bringing classroom supplies for Supply the Academy.
May 8 concludes with bringing treats for YODA' best teacher.
In addition to appreciation week, a retirement open house for Shelle Kreitzer, Gina Boshard, and Annette Graff is set for May 1 at 2:30 p.m.
As the school year concludes, students will participate in various end-of-year assessments. All students will take the Acadience reading measure to track progress in grade level text. Third, fourth, and fifth-grade students will also complete RISE assessments to measure mastery of grade level content.
Principal Baker advised parents to support students by ensuring they get adequate rest and eat a healthy breakfast before testing. Classroom teachers will provide specific dates and times for these assessments.
The school calendar also includes several upcoming milestones, such as the End of Year Swim Day at WCC on May 18 and a Kindergarten Program on May 19. The final days of school are scheduled for May 20 and May 21, with both days featuring a 12 p.m. dismissal.
