Fortem Technologies, an airspace security company based in Lindon, Utah, announced the close of its $50 million Series B funding round on September 29. The financing round was led by Lockheed Martin, which had previously committed $25 million in an initial tranche announced earlier this year.
The capital from the Series B round is intended to accelerate manufacturing at Fortem's facility in Lindon and expand the global deployment of its SkyDome Family of Systems. This system integrates TrueView radar sensors, AI-powered command-and-control software, and DroneHunter autonomous interceptors to detect, track, classify, and defeat aerial threats.
Stephanie C. Hill, President of Lockheed Martin Rotary and Mission Systems, stated that the company is investing ahead of the need to provide counter-UAS capabilities that can move faster than threats. She noted the collaboration reflects a commitment to delivering capabilities at an affordable cost and the speed of relevance.
Fortem Technologies has recently secured several significant contracts to meet rising demand for airspace protection. These include a multimillion-dollar Department of Homeland Security (DHS) contract to protect venues for the 2026 FIFA World Cup and a U.S. Army contract to defend installations worldwide.
In August, Fortem was selected by the DHS as a prime contractor on a five-year C-UAS hardware and software contract. This contract has an estimated starting ceiling of $1.011 billion, with the potential to grow over the duration of the agreement. The company also maintains a deepening integration with Lockheed Martin’s Sanctum Counter-Unmanned Aerial Systems architecture.
Fortem Technologies is a privately held company that is authorized to deploy a drone-on-drone kinetic interceptor in U.S. airspace. The company's technology has undergone validation through operational deployments in East Asia, the Middle East, and Ukraine. In addition to Lockheed Martin and Unusual Machines, other investors include DCVC, Toshiba, AE Industrial Partners, AIM13, and Signia Venture Partners.
Charlie O’Connell, Chief Business Officer at Fortem Technologies, said the participation of key investors confirms the company's leadership in airspace security. He noted that the technology is proven in real-world environments ranging from Europe to the Middle East to the World Cup.
