Most of Washington County was without power according to a notice on the St. George city website. Officials believed the outage was a Pacific Corps issue and stated that energy services teams were working to resolve it.
The hospital and the Dixie Convention Center in St. George were reported to have power restored. Officials stated that priority for restoration was being given to critical infrastructure.
During the restoration process, officials announced the implementation of two-hour rolling blackouts. This process involves rotating customers on and off the grid in two-hour increments. While these blackouts were occurring, officials requested that residents avoid using high-demand appliances like stoves, washers, and dryers, and suggested keeping air conditioning at 78 degrees.
Officials noted that while work to restore power continued, they were limited by the load for the time being.
