Sevier County Road Department has identified several ongoing winter road closures affecting various routes within the county.
How to check road status
According to the department, travelers should utilize the Online Road Maps link to view all current closures and determine when specific roads are scheduled to reopen.
Specific closed routes and locations
Several key routes remain closed due to winter conditions. Gooseberry/Seven Mile Rd is closed at the gates located at mile post 22 on the north end and at Johnson Reservoir on the south end. This road potentially opens by Memorial Day each year, depending on snow totals.
Potential reopening timelines
Fremont River Rd and East Fremont River Rd are closed at gates by the Joe Bush Parking Area and in Wayne County at SR 72. These roads also may open by Memorial Day depending on snow totals.
Additional road closure details
Additionally, Fishlake Cut Off Rd is closed from SR 25 to the Sevier County line. This route may reopen by Memorial Day or sooner each year based on snow levels.
Temporary closures from drifting snow
Browns Ln, running from SR 24 to SR 62, may experience temporary closures at any time during the winter months due to drifting snow.
Winter plowing priorities and operations
The County Road Department noted that during winter snow events, roads are plowed by priority. Operations begin in more populated areas and school bus routes before extending to rural roads. The department stated that some roads in the county are not plowed at all during the winter months.
